My Background

I am originally from Cornwall and have been lucky to have lived most of my life in this beautiful part of the world. The word Sawya (pronounced Soy-ya) is the Cornish word meaning 'to heal'.

Much of my career has been working in the NHS within primary care mental health Talking Therapies but more recently within the private healthcare sector also. In my current NHS role I am a senior therapist and clinical supervisor. Previously, I worked within substance misuse services both in HMP prison services and in the community.

I have experience and training working with a range of mental health disorders including depression, PTSD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, GAD, OCD and Social Anxiety.

Working with The Armed Forces

I am a military spouse and I am proud to be able to offer support to members of the armed forces community including current serving personnel, veterans and spouses. I have attended further training with Kent and Medway NHS Trust Armed Forces Network and I have worked alongside veteran colleagues in both a clinical and therapeutic setting. I understand and recognise the various challenges and difficulties that are unique to this community and lifestyle both within and outside of the UK.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions about support you may need.
