Sessions

Initial Assessment Appointment (up to 75 minutes). This is a chance for you to tell me about your current difficulties, what you would hope to achieve from therapy and, if I am the right therapist to support you, we can then agree on a treatment plan.

£110

Therapy Session (Up to 1 hour)

£85

Extended Therapy Session (90 minutes - if clinically appropriate). Sometimes trauma work requires slightly longer sessions. This is in accordance with NICE guidelines. We will discuss beforehand if this is necessary for you.

£130

One-off clarity session (90 minutes). These sessions offer a gentle space to explore what is going on for you right now and to see if therapy feels right for you. There's no obligation to rebook, sometimes a space to explore and make sense can help before we commit to taking action towards change.

£130

If you're not sure what feels right for you at the moment, please contact me for a free 15 minute phone call or just email me and we can explore what might be the best first steps for you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on the idea that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all connected. When we feel anxious or low, we often find ourselves in a vicious cycle and feel unable to break out of this and become stuck in negative patterns of thinking or behaving that can leave us feeling worse.

CBT helps us to understand how these patterns have developed and we learn how to break out of the negative cycle so that we can feel better. CBT is known as a ‘doing’ therapy and involves trying out new skills and techniques between sessions. We will work together to figure out the best steps forward for you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a therapy that helps people to recover from difficulties that have been caused by traumatic events in their lives.

EMDR theory suggests that memories are not properly processed following a trauma and therefore are easily triggered which then causes distress and difficult emotions.

EMDR helps the brain to properly store these memories so that they feel less distressing and therefore have less of an impact on a persons’ day to day life.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidence-based, NICE recommended intervention for the treatment of PTSD. It has been shown to be effective in reducing PTSD symptoms related to a variety of traumatic events including physical and sexual abuse or assault, accidents, threats, military combat, or being a witness to violence or death.

CPT helps individuals to address unhelpful negative thoughts which are associated with their trauma experience and can keep individuals ‘stuck’, the aim is to reduce the negative effect of the trauma on their life.

CPT is a structured therapy approach delivered over 8-15 sessions. Many studies have proven the effectiveness of CPT with armed forces personnel, current and veterans, and first responders such as police and ambulance crew.
